| Dear Georgean,Michael Murray was the uncle of my great grandfather, Peter Murray. Peter rrived in the US & Alameda County in 1853 and settled first in Dublin before buying a ranch in Livermore about 1862.
I recently learned (with the assistance of Dick Finn) that my grandfather Daniel J. Murray attended Inman School and graduated in 1895. His sister Margaret Ann Murray ("Maggie" Lindner) appears in a photo reputed to be a graduation photo from Murray School, but she would have been over 22 at the time.
The family "legend" is that the Murray and Dolan children went to Murray School from approximately 1880 to 1910. Are there any class lists or photos with reliable captions that would verify who the students were from those years?
Thank you very much for your assistance. DanRiser |
I had the opportunity recently to view the collection of pictures the city has of graduating classes we have for Murray School. Sadly none of them have all of the names of every pupil. You are more than welcome to stop by our Heritage Center and view the photos we have. Georgean | | Comments |
| Dear Georgean,I am researching Charles Gast...did you know him? He passed away a few years ago. He had mentioned the name Georgean and I wondered if that is you. I have some information to share about him. Lauren Issel |
I’m sorry I don’t recognize the name. But having my own business in town and serving on the 80’s city council exposed me to many people.
I am flattered that he would remember my name.
Yes, please share, thanks Georgean | | Comments |
| Dear Georgean,I am researching my father's family named Brady and the details we hold are:
Great Grandfather -Joseph Brady born c1832 reputedly St Francis parish near Dublin,a cabinetmaker who enlisted in British army at Hulme , Manchester in 1854.
He stated that his father was Daniel Brady, also a cabinetmaker and I wonder if you can tell me if there are trade registers which would give further details for cabinetmakers in or around Dublin for the above period.
Also,is there a confusion on whether St Francis parish is actually in Dublin or is it possible that there would be another referred to as "near "
Thank you in advance

Dear Helen,
Thank you for writing to the Historian for the city of Dublin but you have reached Dublin CA, USA and I think you want Dublin, Ireland. So I Googled St Francis Parish in Dublin Ireland and I found that there is a St Francis Xavier Catholic Church run by the Jesuits on Gardiner St in Dublin Ireland. http://www.gardinerstparish.ie/ There is also a St Francis of Assisi Parish in Priorswood, Dublin, Ireland http://www.iol.ie/~friars/
Good luck in your search

| Dear Georgean,Thank you for all the sincere and wonderful work the Dublin Historic Preservation Association has accomplished over the years!
I am many miles from California, however, the history of Dublin and California are very much a part of my life and my ancestors of many years ago.
Thank you and God bless you.

| Dear Georgean,November 14, 2008
Dear Georgean
Congratulations on becoming Dublin\'s first official City Historian. The people of Dublin are very fortunate to have someone with your experience to help save our history. .... Don Meeker worked with my brother Bill Kolb in gathering Kolb history. Bill passed away before it was completed; however, a great deal of Kolb history was saved due to Don's time and effort.
Sincerely,
Carol (Kolb) Strom

Thank you for the wonderful letter, Carol. Yes we were fortunate that Don was able to work with Bill...we are hoping to transcribe the notes and combine them with the video and pictures to create a Kolb family booklet.
Thank you also for the donation to further our historical efforts. It is greatly appreciated. Georgean
To all:
We are looking for additional volunteers to meet with other founding families to document the "family story" for future generations. You don't need any special skills. Just an afternoon conversation with a family member may be enough to take them verbally down memory lane. Georgean | | Comments |
| Dear Georgean,Georgean, We have received a query asking about early Danish valley pioneer Chris Smith. Virginia Smith Bennett was a direct descendant of Smith. In her book she does not name the family but does make references. Do you know if Ms. Bennett ever made a family tree or wrote in detail about her valley ancestors?
Thank you for your help, Richard Finn, Tri-Valley Heritage Families Project richard Finn |
Dear Richard,
No, I have never heard of a Smith family and to my knowledge our Dublin book is the only "book" Virginia Bennett wrote. However, Lee Jouthas at the library has all of her archives and there maybe something in there about Virginia's heritage.
You also might talk with Frank Thomas who is a volunteer researching the families buried in our cemetery in order to create a Dublin Family Tree.
Dear Dick
Thanks for the information. I must admit to knowing little about any of the other valley cities families except those for which things and places are named.
Please keep me up to date. I am very interested in your project.
Georgean

| Dear Georgean,Charlie and I were delighted to hear the other day that you were the official Dublin City Historian. We have recently been given two obituaries of James Witt Dougherty. Would you like to add them to your collection? We are happily pursuing his family history back into Virginia in 1750. The internet makes modern genealogy research fun and possible. Thank you for the exciting invitation to the Launch Party! We are unable to join you but our thoughts will be with you. We are enjoying the digitalized pictures. May your party be wonderful!
Gwen Dougherty | Thank you for being the first to post. I'll get back to your shortly. Georgean | | Comments |
